Obituary of Douglas "Mac" Williams

Douglas McArthur Williams (Mac), age 79, passed away on September 23, 2021, at his residence in Haywood County. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, TN, with Rev. Will Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul’s Cemetery in Lauderdale County. Visitation for Mr. Williams will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church. Mac was born on April 3, 1942, in Lauderdale County, TN to Robert C. and Essie Jane (Pilcher) Williams, joining 5 other siblings; Marie (Robert) Henry, John Walter Williams (Lucille), Daisy Modell (Charles ‘Sonny’) Walker, Bobbie Jane (Robert ‘Bob’) White, and Betty Ann (Larry) Pegg, who have all preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Jean Harvey Williams; three sons, Mark (Kim) Williams, Van Williams and Clayton Williams. He is also survived by 3 grand-daughters, Raeann Williams, Robbie Williams and Avelyn (Avy) Williams, and one brother-in-law, Larry Pegg. After graduating from Ripley High School in 1960, he worked as Parts Manager for Wiley T. Daniels, then he worked for USDA as a federal meat inspector until his retirement. He enjoyed working on his farm, raising cattle, and working with his hands. He was an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, TN, where he has been a member since 1966. Mac’s testimony was in the way he lived his life, serving the Lord, loving his family, as well as his service to his fellow man. This was evident with the many friends he had who lived across the country. Pallbearers for the service are his nephews, Rob Henry, Randy White, Scottie White, Tommy White, Terry White, John Williams, Don Walker and Chris Pegg. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37220. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. Mac fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7
