I was an SAE with Ned. My First Sunday night fraternity meeting after initiation was hysterical because Ned and Billy Dover were busy cutting up in the back of her room. Saw Ned, Billy, and Paul Craft at a club on Brooks road dozens of times and later dozens more at Huey’s on Madison!
Ned was always the True Gentleman to me!aP679

I believe I first met Ned at the Peabody Community Center around 1954 where kids from various schools got together to teach each other the latest dance steps or to square dance. Ned’s mom worked for the city’s recreation department; my mom taught art for the city, so Ned and I also had a link through our mothers. We both wound up at CBHS in the same homeroom. Ned was a friendly guy, easy and fun to be around, and a talented musician. I always looked forward to seeing him at reunions. My sincere condolences to his family. The world could use more Ned Turmers.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts and your wonderful memories will give you some relief during this difficult time.

My heart breaks for you Carol because I know how special the relationship you and Ned had was. I will always remember how kind and generous Ned was during my time in Memphis. He opened his home up to me and allowed me a free place to stay during my clinicals at Baptist East. I enjoyed our weekly dinners and conversations. I loved hearing him tell stories. He attempted to teach me a thing or two about the stock market. I am forever grateful for the time spent with you both! Ned was a truly wonderful person and he will be missed by all! My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Love you!
