Obituary of Warren Davis Blackburn

Warren's Obituary Mr. Warren Davis Blackburn, age 87, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 in the Tennessee State Veterans Home, Humboldt, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Clyde Blackburn and Ada Davis Blackburn; a half brother: Clyde Thorne Blackburn: a brother: Willie Eason Blackburn; a sister: Lockie Blackburn Altman; three nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in the First United Methodist Church, Bells, TN, Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M., with Bro. Derek White officiating. Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery, Bells, TN with military honors. Mr. Blackburn was a World War II Veteran, serving in Europe with the 45th Infantry, (Thunderbird) Division. He was severely wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, Siegfried Line, March 13, 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Battle Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Theater Medal and Victory Medal. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Bells, TN, where he served as a Trustee, Board member, Adult Sunday School Teacher and a Choir member. He also served as President of the Bells Lion Club, Commander of American Legion, President of Bells Jaycees, Member of the VFW and DAV. He was a Bells City Alderman for 20 years, and a Crockett County Commissioner for many years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Zuline Castellaw Blackburn, Bells, TN; a son: David Warren Blackburn, (Carolyn), Germantown, TN; a daughter: Brenda Blackburn Skipper, (Skip), Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren: Adam F. Skipper, Chattanooga, TN, Matthew M. Skipper, (Shelley), Edinburgh, Scotland, Dana Blackburn Carper, (Brian), Memphis, TN and Jana Blackburn Weathersby, (Brett), Stow, Mass., and two great-grandchildren: William Warren Weathersby and Elle Alexandra Weathersby, both of Stow Mass.; two nieces and two nephews. Visitation will be held in the Brownsville-Bells Funeral Homes Chapel, Bells, TN, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday, at The First United Methodist Church from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.
