Carrie Faye Mayfield January 12, 1924 - October 19, 2010 Carrie Faye Williams Mayfield passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Carrie was born January 12, 1924 in Bells, Tennessee to Olive and Arnold Williams. She attended Union University before receiving a nursing degree from Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She married Russell Wayne Mayfield and they returned to Bells, where she worked as a nurse in his medical practice. Carrie was an avid gardener and nature lover and formed a wildflower club with friends. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she taught Sunday School. Carrie was a great cook and her heart was in making the most of her home. Most of all, she loved being Grandmama. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Wayne Mayfield, and her son, Russell. She is survived by a sister: Annie Wista Williams of Bells, TN; a brother: Joe Williams of King George VA; two sons: Ross Mayfield (Stephanie) of Ormond Beach FL, and Dan Mayfield (Carroll) of Memphis, TN; and five grandchildren: Clark, Harry, Katie, Julie and Carrie Mayfield. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be at 12 noon October 30, 2010 at Brownsville- Bells Funeral Homes chapel, Bells, TN, with a private burial. Memorials should be sent to The Russell and Carrie Mayfield Scholarship Fund, in care of Bells City Schools, Hwy 88 South, Bells, TN. 38006.
