Obituary of Doyle Derwood Ward

Mr. Doyle Derwood Ward, age 92, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ward will be conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden.

Mr. Ward proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from Southwestern Bell after 37 years of service.  He was an avid gardener, loved canning his garden vegetables and sharing with friends and family.  He was a former member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church of Topeka, Kansas and current member of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden.

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Troy Clarence and Nancy Ethel Vines Ward; two brothers:  J. B. Ward and Douglass Ward; two sisters:  Myrtice Griffin and Roberta Schutte.

He is survived by five daughters:  Sharon Morton (John) of Texas, Doye Williams of Kansas, Danette Martin (Sam) of Kansas, Dayle DiGeorge (Joe) of Kansas, Derrie Wade of Kansas; one son:  Dustan Ward (Helen) of Texas; nine grandchildren:  John Morton, Jessica Martin, Collin Martin, Katie Martin Portmann, Nick Wade, Matt Wade, Alec Ward, Dustin Ward and Declan Ward; He leaves a legacy of nine great-grandchildren:  Aryana Ramirez, Sergio Ramirez, Hector Ramirez, Marisa Ramirez, Elizabeth Martin, Veronica Martin, Mariana Martin, Abigail Martin and Zelie Martin.
