Obituary of Jim Donald Parks

Mr. Jim Parks, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 1 PM in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Zion United Methodist Cemetery.  Visitation will be, Monday, June 10, 2019, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.  Jim served as Sheriff of Haywood County and the Brownsville Police Department.    He enjoyed, hunting, and eating catfish at the Tennessee River and reloading bullets. He loved to build things and enjoyed dogs and cats.  Jim was well loved and will be missed greatly by his family and the community.    He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Thomas and Goldie Mae Hibbert Parks, two brothers, Stacy Parks, Larry Parks, three sisters: Josephine Hammond, Nell Cassidy and Jeannie Williams. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Parks, a son, Troy (Allison) Ferrell, a brother, Terry (Joan) Parks all of Brownsville and three sisters, Joan (Jack) Brummett, of Brownsville, Barbara (Jerry) Marbury, Denmark, TN and Mary Ann (Mike) Prine, College Station, TX. The Brownsville Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers for the service.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion United Methodist Cemetery, c/o Mary Frances Trottman, 1805 Rudolph Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012, or to the Brownsville/Haywood County Animal Shelter, c/o Janet Davis, P.O. Box 449, Brownsville, TN 38012.
