Obituary of Harry Harness, Jr.

Mr. Harry Parker Harness, Jr., age 88 passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at AHC Crestview in Brownsville, TN.  His funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 1:30-3:00 PM in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.  Burial will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Harder Cemetery in Linden, TN. 

Mr. Harness is survived by his wife, Mavis Harness of Brownsville, TN to whom he was married for 62 years;  one son, Parker Harness (Dottie) of Germantown, TN, and two grandchildren, Parker Harness IV, and Elizabeth Harness.   He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Parker Harness and Velma Middleton Harness and one son, Alan Harness.  

Mr. Harness was born in Trimble, TN.  He taught school at Southeast Missouri and Columbia Military Academy prior to moving to Brownsville, TN.  He began in career in Brownville as the Headmaster and Teacher at Tennessee Academy, and then was a Supervisor and  Business Manager at the John S. Wilder Youth Development Center in Somerville, TN.  He served in the United States Army and enjoyed golf and telling stories.
