Obituary of Roy Overton, Jr.

Mr. Roy Overton, Jr. age 89, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at his home in Ripley, TN.  He was born on November 29, 1929 in Brownsville, TN and was a member of the Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church of Ripley.   Funeral services for Mr. Overton will be conducted on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Willis officiating.  Burial to follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens.  A visitation for the Overton family will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Brownsville Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 11:00 AM.      

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Roy Overton Sr and Myrtle Hill Overton; two brothers:  Charles Martin Overton and Richard Lenny Overton; one grandson:  Jacob Ivy. 

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marilyn Louise Cothern Overton of Ripley, TN;  one daughter:  Susan Ratcliff (Ed) of Batesville, MS; four step-sons:  Steve Donaldson (Debra) of Eads, TN, Alan Donaldson (Becky) of West Memphis, Ark, Greg Donaldson (Tammy) of Dyersburg, TN, Jeff Donaldson (Mary) of Redmond, OR; one brother:  Jamie Hill Overton (Patti) of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren and leaves a legacy of three great-great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the Overton family requests that Memorials be made to the Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, 279 Mary’s Chapel Road, Ripley, TN  38063
