Obituary of James Buford Hill, Jr.

James Buford “Jim” Hill, Jr, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.  He is survived by his daughter Lina L. Hill of Jackson, TN, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.   He was preceded in death by his wife Genie Hill, his parents, James Buford Hill, Sr. and Alice Webb Hill, one son, James B. Hill, III.

James Hill served in the United States Air Force for 22 years.   His first assignment Honolulu, Hawaii.  He worked on the Minute Man Missiles during the 1960’s and 1970’s in Cape Canaveral, FL.  He flew instrumentations on the aircraft that tracked the Minute Man Missiles at Patrick AFB, FL.  He served as Superintendent for the town of Henning, TN., and was a part-time mail carrier.   

After retirement, nothing made Jim happier than frying catfish & hushpuppies or barbecuing a pork shoulder for his family and friends.   Jim provided his family with travel, a slightly different than southern life with travel experiences, living in various locations and making memories that will stay with them forever.  He will be in the heart of his family forever and for always. 

Mr. Hill will have private burial with Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
