Obituary of James Hart Carvin

James Hart Carvin, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at AHC Crestview in Brownsville, TN.    Memorial Services for Mr. Carvin will be held at Lea & Simmons Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Richard Dickerson officiating.   Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019, from 1 - 2 PM at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home. 

Mr. Carvin is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Carvin of Brownsville, TN, one son, Jim Carvin (Jane) of Brighton, TN, one daughter, Sue Ellen Mian Carvin (Margaret) of Olympia, WA, 3 grandchildren, Kris Carvin (Elaina), Jennifer Carvin, Lily Carvin and 6 great-grandchildren, including Madison Carvin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Bunyon Carvin and Goldie Marie Hart Carvin, one son, Mark Carvin, and one sister, Marjorie Roberts. 

Mr. Carvin worked for the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department where he retired from service.  He was a City Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Brownsville.  He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Mason’s Scottish Rites and Shriners.  He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, NASCAR, and watching Westerns on TV. He also loved to talk, travel and vacation in the Smokey Mountains in East Tennessee.
