Obituary of Fred Hill, Jr.

Fred Hill, 71, of Parsons, Tennessee quietly and unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. Memorial Services for Mr. Hill will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 1 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 108 N. Pleasant St., Decaturville, TN. Visitation will follow the memorial service. Fred was born on July 18, 1948 in Waterbury, CT to Frederick Thomas Hill, Sr and Audrey Elizabeth Outtrim Hill. He was the oldest of three rambunctious sons. Fred is survived by his devoted wife, Melodie Gitchell Hill, two brothers, David Hill and Tom Hill, both of Oxford, CT., one son, Fred (Barbara) Hill, III, of Pompey, NY, two daughters, Stacie Hill Barnes of Wallingford, CT and Heather Hill of Cuyler, NY, one Step-Son, Nathan (Helen Long) Crumley of Memphis, TN, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 until 1969, serving one year in Vietnam (As he would often state, “Eleven months and twenty-one days”) He passionately loved his country. Fred will always be remembered for his strong work ethic and tireless devotion to helping others. He took life in both hands and enjoyed many hobbies including but not limited to: boating, flying (being a private pilot), traveling, fishing, golfing, camping, playing his guitar, Harley riding and also scuba diving. He did everything proficiently and with much enthusiasm and zest for life. He recently retired from Reeves Trucking Company in Lexington, TN and had previously worked for Mclane Company of Baldswinsville, NY and Corcorans Transportation Company in Waterbury, CT where he trained and helped many others in their driving careers. Thru good times and bad, his devotion to our Lord and Savior never wavered, having been a Deacon and served on many Christian revivals. Fred was proceeded in death by both of his parents and also a sister, Linda Lee Hill
