I was one of the many friends at the 100th Birthday Celebration of Mrs. Blondell some two years ago. In spite of the icy road conditions family and friends came from far and wide. I witnessed as my friend and companion, Danny Kay Liles, asked his Aunt Dell if she recalled that he was born in the front bedroom of her home in Bells. Also, two years later his brother Lee was born in the same room. She smiled and nodded as she leaned in to receive a gentle hug from her nephew. The sisters were very close...Blondell, Burdett, and Penny. (They were called Penny, Nickel, Dime.) Mrs. Blondell was all about family!
It was my pleasure to be one of the guests at this very special party. Donna Sue, Wayne, Aunt Dell, and all the family shared stories, enjoyed some cake and refreshments as we laughed the afternoon away. It was great fun to mingle with "the White Star Gang" and this delightful family on that joyful day!
What a Lady, what a family! What a tragedy that this 'Pandemic' will not allow these same loved ones to gather in appreciation of all they learned and shared over these many years.
We will all be there in spirit! It's so obvious that Mrs. Blondell was the glue and the positive influence who drew so many to brave some really icy roads and celebrate her 100th birthday. I will always remember this fine family who included me in this occasion.

I am sorry to hear of Mrs Blondelle"s passing. She and Mr Lem were staples of Bells and their "White Star Market" a mainstay of Downtown Bells.
