Obituary of Zora Nell Sills

Zora Nell Smith Sills, age 97, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bells, TN. Private Family Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at the Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville, TN with Rev. Bob Connerley officiating. Mrs. Sills was born on November 30, 1922, in Haywood County to Dorsey and Lillie Bell Simpson Smith. She was a graduate of Haywood County High School in the class of 1941. She was married to Elbert Pershing Sills for 42 years and was a homemaker. Her faith and service to the Lord, as well as her family, were important to her. She was extremely proud of her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime, faithful member of Brownsville Baptist Church during her active years. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Sills Jackson (Dan) of Brownsville, TN; three grandchildren, Ashley Jackson Garner (Jason) of Jackson, TN; John Sills of Columbia, SC and Laura Jackson Sanderson (Clayton) of Collierville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Clayton David Sanderson, Sadie Sanderson, Ethan Sanderson, and Jack Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Pershing Sills, her parents, Dorsey and Lillie Bell Simpson Smith; her son, David Elbert Sills, and her grandson, Brandon Neal Jackson. Pallbearers for Mrs. Sills service are Joe Sills, John Sills, Clayton Sanderson and Jason Garner. In lieu of flowers, family has requested memorials be made to Brownsville Baptist Church, 5 N. Wilson Ave, Brownsville, TN 38012, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Due to restrictions placed on funeral homes by the state of TN, the Sills Family will have a private family burial.
