Mr. Ray Taylor, age 85, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020, in Jackson Madison County General Hospital, in Jackson, TN. Private Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, July 25, 2020, in Floyd’s Chapel Cemetery in Maury City, TN, with Bro. Charles Ferrell officiating. Ray Taylor was born on June 17, 1935 to the late Fred and Eunice Campbell Taylor in Madison County. He spent most of his life farming and working for the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. He loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting, training animals, and spending time with his beagle dogs. He was known as “Big Daddy” by his family. Big Daddy loved his family beyond any extent or circumstance, but more importantly he loved the Lord. He was strong in His faith and would always express how blessed of a man he was. He is survived by his two sons, Johnny Taylor (Janet) of Brownsville, TN and Jimmy Taylor (Nancy) of Jackson, TN; four daughters, Rita Lankford (Chris) of Ripley, TN; Patsy Peace (James) of Brownsville, TN; Theressa Callery (Ron) of Brownsville, TN, and Misty Henry (Rocky) of Dyersburg, TN; three brothers, Rex Taylor (Maggie) of Parsons, TN; Harold Taylor of Brownsville, TN, and Charles Taylor (Linda) of Alamo, TN; one sister, Sharon Waddell (Tommy) of Brownsville, TN. He leaves a legacy of love with 15 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Ann” Davis Taylor; his parents, Fred and Eunice Campbell Taylor and one grandchild, Christopher Tucker. Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or the American Cancer Society, Attn: Sharolett Allen, c/o InSouth Bank, P.O. Box 879, Brownsville, TN 38012. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
