Mrs. Martha Rosson Byrd, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in the Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bells, TN. Her Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Union Cemetery in Haywood County with Bro. Jeff Brown officiating. The family request those who are attending to please wear a mask. Martha was born on February 2, 1934 in Tipton County. She worked as a seamstress and also enjoyed babysitting. She is best known as “Mammie” to the many children she would babysit through the years. Martha was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. She is survived by two sons, Danny Byrd (Belinda) of Brownsville, TN, and Roger Byrd (Joan) of Gadsden, TN; one daughter, Shelia Forsythe (Mike) of Brownsville, TN; one brother, Tommy Brown (Delane) of Oakland, TN and one sister, Helen Brown of Huntingdon, TN. She leaves a legacy of 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Byrd; her parents, J. Hugh Rosson and Clara Rosson Brown; her step father, James Marshall Brown, two brothers, Lloyd Rosson, Clyde Rosson and two sisters, Mary Anner Rosson and Magdalene Rossen Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
