Obituary of Edna Freels Swain Forsythe

Mrs. Edna Freels Swain Forsythe, age 85, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at her residence in Dyersburg, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with Bro. Mark McSwain officiating. Burial will follow at the Dancyville Assembly of God Church Cemetery. Visitation will held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home Chapel. Edna was born on May 16, 1935 in Haywood County. She was a homemaker. One of her hobbies which she enjoyed was fishing. She was an animal lover and liked watching the squirrels in the yard. She is survived by her husband Terry Forsythe; three daughters, Diane Watson (Brian) of the Hillville Community, Carol Young (Brett) of Dyersburg, TN and Anita Johnson of Bradford, TN and one sister, Barbara Kirkland of the KoKo Community. She leaves a legacy of 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Swain; her parents, Jessie and Ruby Pittman Freels; three sons, Bobby Joe Swain, Jimmy Swain, and Johnny Swain; one daughter, Susie Crawford; two brothers, J.W. Freels and Joe Freels; four sisters, Francis Elrod, Ruby Freels, Dorothy Austin and Alice Elrod; one grandson, Billy Joe Forsythe and one great-grandson, Lucky King. Pallbearers for the service are Robert Jones, Charlie Jones, Dylan Brady, Brett Young, Willie Jones and B. J. Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Sharolett Allen, c/o InSouth Bank, P.O. Box 879, Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
