Obituary of Bettye Gray Powell

Bettye Gray Kirby Powell, age 89 passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Due to Covid-19, the family is having a private graveside service at Allen’Baptist Church Cemetery. Bettye Gray was born on November 30, 1931 in Brownsville, TN to J.C. Kirby and Miriam Ruth Stephens Kirby. She was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and wife and loved her family dearly. She was a life-long member of Allen Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill N. Powell, her parents, J.C. and Miriam Ruth Stephens Kirby and one son, Christopher N. Powell. She is survived by three sons, Kirby O. Powell (Susie) of Medina, TN, Mark S. Powell (Cathy) of Jackson, TN and B. Brannon Powell (Elise) of Brownsville, TN, nine grandchildren, Nash Powell (Ginger), J.P. Powell (Stephanie), Currie Powell (Lindsey), Jackson Powell, Christy Irvin (Jose), Jordan Asplund (Joshua), Peyton Gray Powell, Alex Powell and Mia Powell and fourteen great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allen Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Diane Presley, 142 Chestnut Drive, Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
