Obituary of Richard L. Gray

Mr. Richard Leslie Gray, age 79, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, in the TN State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, TN with Dr. Roger Penn and Rev. Sammy Tillman officiating. Richard Gray was born on December 13, 1941 in Mars, Pennsylvania to Charles and Gemella Fike Gray. He retired from the United States Navy and worked as a Electronics Technician. He had the unique gift of being able to fix anything. He truly was a handy man. Faith and Family were an important part of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville, TN. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Jean Gray of Brownsville, TN; one son, Dr. Kevin L. Gray (Alainia) of Montgomery, AL; one daughter, Cynthia J. Randall (Steve) of Tehachapi, CA; one sister, Wilma Butt of Albuquerque, NM. He leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, Brandy Moore, Nora Jane Gray, Viviana Gray, Alex Knight, CJ Randall, Noble Gray, Girma Gray and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gemella Fike Gray; one son, Richard L. Gray, Jr.; one brother, Charles Gray; three sisters, Dorothy Kendall, Lois Kishel, and Ellen Chewning. Memorials are requested to the First United Methodist Church, 117 E. Franklin Street, Brownsville, TN 38012. All Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
