Obituary of Scott Patrick English

Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott Patrick English, age 40, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brownsville, TN, with Rev. Sammy Tillman officiating. Scott was born on February 1, 1981, in Jackson, TN and grew up in Brownsville, TN. Scott did not have any easy life following a diving accident at 20 that left him partially paralyzed. This did not prevent him from fulfilling his ultimate plan of graduating from college. He began his degree at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and after his accident, finished his Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Lambuth College in 2008. He was employed as the manager for English Rentals. Scott was known for his wicked wit and humor that he would convey to his friends with a mischievous and sometimes charming smile. With this combination, he could talk most people into anything. He was a master of cards and a genius at Jeopardy. Scott loved his family and friends and always kept the conversation entertaining. Beneath all his sarcasm, was a big heart that he showed most often to his niece and nephew and others that he loved. He took great care of his mother, as she did Scott after his accident. Scott was business-minded, much like his dad, and was amazing with numbers. He had the knack for turning ordinary things into business opportunities to make money. He was a perfect mix of intelligence and street smarts. Although he was disabled physically, his mind never faltered. During the last eight months, he had three special angels that took such wonderful care of him. These were his other two mothers, Aunt Brenda Kendrick and Jennifer English, and his girlfriend, Shana Cannon. For this, the rest of the family is eternally grateful. The family would also like to thank Matthew Cunningham and the staff at Harbor View Rehabilitation for loving and spoiling him greatly. We will all miss his sarcastic commentary and his knowledge of random facts. Life just won’t be the same without him, he was quite amazingly unique. He is survived by his two mothers, Phyllis Cobb and Jennifer English, both of Brownsville, TN; his girlfriend, Shana Cannon of Ripley, TN; two brothers, Lee English (Lara) of Nutbush, TN and Russ English of Brownsville, TN; his nephew, Jack English of Nutbush, TN and his niece, Elizabeth English of Nutbush, TN. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike English. Pallbearers for the service will be Jeffrey Neal, John Hays, Brooks Smith, Alan ”Bobo” Bond, Matthew “Scat” Cunningham and Andy Pruitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Butler, Jeff Miller, Jay McCage, Carter Jones, Brian Collins, Levoy Castellaw and Scottie Williams. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Handicap of Jackson, 2088 Hollywood Drive, Jackson, TN 38305, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
