Obituary of Karen Joy West

Karen Joy West, age 69, a resident of Jackson, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in Brownsville, TN. Karen was born on January 25, 1952, in Brownsville, TN. She was a lifelong educator in Haywood County Schools and Jackson State Community College. She not only taught her students but tutored many families and friends of all ages. She was a graduate of UT Knoxville and Bethel University. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jim West of Jackson, TN. She is also survived by her daughter, Tanya Castleman (Joe) of Knoxville, TN and her son, Lance English (Amy) of Martin, TN; her grandchildren, Kendall and Cooper Castleman; her twin sister, Kathryn King of Florida; her brother, John King of Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie King and her sister, Sherry King and her brother, Tony King. The family has requested memorials be made to RIFA (Regional Inter-Faith Association) 133 Airways Blvd., Jackson, TN 38301 All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
