Obituary of Cecil Woodrow "Bill" Wells, Jr.

Cecil Woodrow “Bill” Wells, Jr., age 77, a resident of Cordova, TN and a former resident of Brownsville, TN passed away at his residence on Friday, May 6, 2022. Graveside Services will be conducted on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Larry Kendrick officiating. Bill was born on April 11, 1945, in Brownsville, TN. He worked in law enforcement most of his life with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and he served as the Sheriff of Benton County, TN. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved the Tennessee Vols. He is survived by his wife, Lola F. Wells of Cordova, TN; one son, Jae Richie Wells (Jestin) of Cordova, TN; two daughters, Shelly D. Langley (Mike) of Erwin, TN and Misty Meshell Benson (Bobby) of Arlington, TN; two sisters, Elaine Lewis Barbour of Mobile, AL and Shelia Estelle Wood of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Ashton Marin Ligons (Steven) and Mikaela Elizabeth Langley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Woodrow Wells, Sr. and Annie Laura Lewis Wells, and one sister, Nell Ann Spitzer. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Langley, Jestin Burton, Bobby Benson and Steven Ligons. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
