Obituary of Ann Reid

Margaret “Ann” Castellaw Reid, age 89, passed away November 16, 2022, in Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Reid was born on August 1, 1933, to the late J.F. Castellaw and Iva Belch Castellaw. She was a lifelong member of Woodland Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN. She was married for 72 years to her beloved husband, Joseph Roland Reid. Mrs. Reid was a former senior buyer for American Air Filter and a former owner of several local businesses. She had a passion for travel, Tennessee Vols football, and family gatherings, especially at birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.F. and Iva Castellaw; a sister, Betty Ross, and a brother, Malcomn Dewayne Castellaw. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Roland Reid; her children, Dr. Joe Reid (Frank), Betty Lynn Hutcherson, Judge (Ret.) J. Roland Reid (Martha), Nancy Wakefield (Karl); her brothers, Don Castellaw and Jamie Castellaw. She leaves a legacy for her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Angotti (Jimmy), Reid Hutcherson (Kathy), Michael Reid, Anna Reid, Kerry Ann David (Michael); step-grandchildren, R.C. Waddell (Susan) and Layne McLaughlin (Patrick); great-grandchildren Will, Peyton, Charlie, Mary Reid, Evelyn, Patrick, Jack, Brooks, Nora and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Reid, R.C. Waddell, Tanner Wakefield, Frank Isom, Will Vestal Jr., J.P. Hutcherson, Michael David, and Reid Hutcherson. Memorials made be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. A private family graveside service will be held for Mrs. Reid. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
