Obituary of Suzanne Tipton

Funeral Services for Suzanne Thomas Tipton, age 87, will be at 2 pm, Monday, December 15, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sammy Tillman and Reverend Lloyd Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Lea and Simmons Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Tipton died December 12, 2014 at Jackson General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hazel Haralson Thomas, her husband David Evans (Deedum) Tipton, Sr. and her son, David E. Tipton, Jr. She was employed by the State of Tennessee at the Department of Human Services for over 20 years. She also worked at the Delta Heritage Center and wrote the society column 'Suzie's Scene' for the Brownsville States Graphic for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Chi Omega Fraternity. She is survived by two daughters, Flo Bryan and her husband, Frank, of Jackson, MS, and Sue Harvey and her husband Hugh, of Jackson, TN; one son, Tommy Tipton and wife Paula of Brownsville, TN. She has eight grandchildren, Suzanne Tipton, Beth Whitson (Chase), Marie Hill (Reed), Sue Geter (Joey), Sarah Bright Faulkner (Chris), Tom Tipton (Christy), Dorothy Rogers (Louis) and Suzanne Harvey. She has 5 great-grandchildren, Bryan and Henry Geter, Louis Hill, Mason Faulkner and Olivia Kate Tipton. Memorials to First United Methodist Church, 117 E. Franklin St., Brownsville, TN 38012.
