Obituary of Helen Whitehurst

Mrs. Helen Canaday Whitehurst, 98 passed away in her home in Brownsville, TN on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010. Funeral Services will be conducted in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church at 12:00 PM on Thursday August 12, 2010 with Rev. Harold Nation officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Whitehurst was a Home Demonstration Agent for Haywood County for several years after moving to Haywood County from Henderson, where her father was District Superintendent for Methodist Churches. Mrs. Whitehurst retired from teaching Home Economics at Haywood High School for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; William "Bear" Whitehurst. Survivors include one daughter: Helen Jane Shaw, (Battle) Brownsville, TN, one son: Bill Whitehurst, (Susan) Martin, TN, three grandchildren: Beth Shaw Newman, Jane Shaw Hayes and Tracey Lynn Jones, two great-grandchildren: Malia Jones and Zack Jones.
